We are a dynamic, award-winning human rights charity supporting migrants in crisis or at- risk, ensuring that their essential human needs are met and that they are able to overcome the barriers they face. We build community, challenge exclusion and discrimination, influence policy, improve services and inspire solidarity with migrants. 

This is an exciting time to join us. We are recruiting for a number of new posts: office manager, executive assistant to the CEO and immigration advisors. All post holders will play a key role in developing and supporting our charity and strengthening our resource management, administration and governance, as well as in providing advice to migrants at-risk.

 

 

 

Office Manager

 

Full-time, salary in range £31-34k

 

This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in a busy and cutting edge charity supporting migrants at risk or in crisis. You will ensure the safe and efficient running of our busy advice centre  and smooth operations by taking responsibility for - and developing - all areas related to reception, building and office services including IT, health and safety at work, HR administration, service contracts, relevant policies and administrative systems.

 

You will have substantial professional experience in a similar role within a charity or public sector and have good knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance issues. You will be energetic, creative, resourceful and highly organized. You must relish a challenge and be able to combine a hands-on role with an ability to take responsibility, think strategically and solve problems. You must enjoy working collaboratively and be passionate about supporting Praxis to deliver its objectives.

Executive Assistant to the CEO

 

Part time (24 hours per week), flexible hours, salary range £25-28k pro-rata

 

You will provide high quality administrative and governance support to the CEO, trustees and Senior Management Team in this busy charity. This will include the organisation and servicing of trustee and management meetings ensuring effective administration, record keeping and communications.  The role requires flexibility, initiative and discretion. You will need to be highly organised and proactive, with strong administrative and communication skills.

Migrant Destitution Advisor

 

 

Full time (35 hours/week); 2 Years contract, NJC Scale 27. Salary £28,206 inclusive of London Weighting

 

Praxis is looking for someone with good knowledge of migrant rights and the ability to problem-solve, to work on an exciting new project with London Borough of Newham.

 

Employed by Praxis, you will be based part of the time at Newham council offices working with the Homelessness Prevention and Advice Service (HPAS) and homeless outreach teams. You will provide second tier advice to frontline workers and help migrants destitute or at risk of destitution to access appropriate services in the statutory sector and in the wider community through development of effective partnerships and referral routes. 

 

The post holder will need the necessary confidence, skills and knowledge to deliver specialist advice and support to migrants at risk and frontline professionals working with migrants. The post also requires the ability to build relationships with statutory and local voluntary services and the analytical and problem-solving skills to work to improve frontline local authority services to better serve the migrant community in Newham.

Immigration Advisor (OISC-level 2)

  • Job 1: 30 hours with possibility of extending to 35; 12 months with possibility of extension; SCP Scale Pt 31, salary £31,764 (£27,226 pro rata for 30 hours) inclusive of London Weighting

 

We are looking for an energetic OISC-level 2 immigration advisor for an exciting position working with non-UK homeless migrants. Led by our Migrant Destitution Senior Caseworker, you will be responsible for the delivery of immigration advice and casework to rough sleeping migrants supported by St Mungos services. You will need to sensitively explore the options for homeless people to regularise their migration status and access to services and support. Recently, our charity has been key in uncovering the Windrush Scandal and evidence arising from your work will be used to advocate for migrants’ rights and for immigration issues to be seen as a support need, rather than as a barrier to accessing support.

 

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants at-risk. You will have a good understanding of the challenges faced by these groups, including destitution and inability to access services due to No Recourse to Public Fund status. You will have to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of stakeholders.
