Fundraise

There are all sorts of wonderful ways you can raise money to support migrants at risk. The incredible efforts of fundraisers get us one step forward, and you won’t need to run a marathon to get involved.

If you already have a fundraising idea, fantastic! Get in touch to share it with us - you can send us an email at fundraising@praxis.org.uk.

Unsure where to begin? Read on for some inspiration.

Host an Event

  • Transform your house into a cinema and invite friends round for a night of big picture goodness. If you’re feeling adventurous you could sell pots of ice cream during the intermission.

  • Get the competitive juices flowing with a video game tournament. From Smash Bros to FIFA you’d be surprised how many people get on board, and how much fun you’ll all have. These are brilliant to run at school and in the office during lunchtimes.

  • Channel your inner Adele with a karaoke night. These always make for a fun time - a chance to let loose for a good cause. And even if you can’t sing like Elvis Presley, you can certainly dress up like him.

Get physical

Outdoor activities are excellent ways to fundraise. Whether you’re a cyclist, a runner, a swimmer, or anything else, you can raise money for Praxis while pushing yourself to the limit. Or going on a leisurely hike, entirely up to you.

This is a common way of raising money so there are races organised throughout the year that you can sign up for. Alternatively, you can always plan your own. Once you’re up and running (no pun intended) ask friends and family members to sponsor you. You may find some will want to take part themselves!

Make it count

Not everyone has the time to put on elaborate events or climb a mountain, and that’s ok. Fundraising can also be a case of what you don’t do and don’t spend.

  • Instead of asking for presents for Christmas or you birthday, ask to donate to Praxis. Social media can be fantastic for promoting worthy causes on your special day if you really want to go for it.

  • Or cut a handful of items from your lifestyle and donate the money you save. At a time when we are pushed to constantly buy new products, sometimes less can really be more, as you use what you save to support those most in need.

  • Similarly, put aside a percentage of your pay each month. Many employers will match you if you ask them. Doubling your money’s always an attractive prospect, no?

Fundraise through Facebook

We’ve joined Facebook Donate! 100% of the donations go to Praxis, so if you’d like to set up a fundraiser, let more people know about the work we’re doing and help support us, just use the link below to get started and select “Praxis, for Migrants and Refugees” from the list of charities.

These are just a handful of the things you could do. If you have your own ideas don’t hesitate to get in touch at fundraising@praxis.org.uk. We’ll help make it a reality.

I wanted to fundraise for Praxis, their work is so important for people in our communities who fall between the cracks of policy and support. It is incredibly fulfilling to be able to have fun singing for a day and raise money and awareness - though I couldn’t speak for 2 days afterwards!
