Capacity Building & Training

Immigration policies and people’s entitlements are complex and frequently changing. The landscape of services available can be hard to navigate, making it difficult for migrants to secure their rights and access the support they need. At Praxis we train other professionals so they can better support those who have moved to the UK.

Migrant Homelessness

Training

Praxis provides training on a range of migrant issues including migrant homelessness, No Recourse to Public Funds policy, domestic abuse & migration and asylum rights.

Our training is designed to support those who are not immigration specialists to better understand the context in which those within the immigration system find themselves and to improve knowledge and practice.  We have provided training to local authorities, women’s organisations, faith organisations, housing associations and many others.  Our training is informed by our frontline work supporting those in the immigration system and delivered by practitioners to ensure that content is practical and up-to-date. If you would like to talk to us about your training needs, get in touch.

“Thank you so much for the training. I’m now a massive fan a raving about it to my colleagues.”

Capacity building

While training can improve staff knowledge and understanding, creating services which meet the diverse needs of those in the immigration system is a greater challenge. Praxis has provided advice and guidance to organisations including local authorities and large homelessness organisations on improving outcomes for migrant service users.

Our capacity building work includes:

  • work with elected officers and senior leaders to develop understanding of the impact of immigration across a range of issues;

  • work with operational leads to identify areas policy and practice can be amended to reduce negative outcomes or mitigate the unintended consequences of immigration related factors;

  • work with frontline staff to increase identification and understanding of immigration related issues and therefore improve outcomes;

  • work with other local organisations to build networks, share knowledge and learning and improve coordination and cooperation.

“Thank you so much for the training. Wonderful service.”
