Joint Response to the Home Affairs Select Committee inquiry on routes to settlement

December 2025

In this joint submission Praxis and the Runnymede Trust call on the Government to reverse their proposals for earned settlement, which would retrospectively target people already living in the UK as integral members of our communities. Instead, the Government should take steps to make settlement equitable and accessible in a timely and affordable way, so that more people can gain the security that comes with it and realise their potential. The response outlines the potential economic impact, impact of individuals, families and communities as well as on local services.
